Biography
Born in 1948 in Ilford, Essex, Noel Edmonds is the only child of Dudley and Lydia Edmonds. Educated at Brentwood Public School, he auditioned for Radio Luxembourg in 1968 and his radio career began in November of that year.
He joined Radio 1 in 1970 and by 1973 had taken over the prestigious Breakfast Show from Tony Blackburn — a show he hosted for the next five years. In 1976 he launched Multicoloured Swap Shop, which entertained a generation for six years.
His Saturday night institution Noel's House Party ran for eight series and 167 shows, winning a BAFTA for Best Light Entertainment in 1992. The Mr Blobby character had a number one record and the fastest-selling video of all time.
On 31 October 2005, Noel made his TV comeback presenting Deal or No Deal on Channel 4, broadcast six afternoons a week for ten years and earning a BAFTA nomination. He has since appeared on Sky's Are You Smarter Than A 10-Year-Old?, Noel's HQ, and joined I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! in 2018.
