Sue Cook
One of the UK's most experienced and popular TV and radio broadcasters
Voted one of Britain's favourite radio voices, Sue Cook's career began with the advent of commercial radio, presenting and producing shows from rock music to popular current affairs. She presented programmes for Radios 1, 2 and 4 — in particular Radio 4's You and Yours, and regularly deputised for Jimmy Young on Radio 2.
Television Career
In 1978 she moved to television, becoming a familiar face on many popular BBC shows. From 1976–1982 she presented the legendary evening current affairs show Nationwide. She regularly shared the red Breakfast Time sofa with Frank Bough, Selina Scott and Debbie Rix.
For thirteen consecutive Novembers from 1982, she co-hosted the BBC's Children in Need appeal with Terry Wogan. In the summer of 1984 she and Nick Ross launched Crimewatch UK, which she presented until 1996. Other shows include Out of Court, Daytime Live, Holiday, Chelsea Flower Show and Collectors Lot.
Her interviewees have ranged from Arthur Scargill to Archbishop Tutu, and from James Stewart to Michael Caine.
Recent Work
Sue is a regular reviewer on Sky's Sunrise and appears on GB News. She became Ambassador and face of Distinct Cremations in 2022. Sue is also Ambassador for the Prince's Trust and patron of the Rainbow Trust, the Children's Liver Disease Foundation and the British Wireless Fund for the Blind.
